  I think this is our 5th stay here and we keep coming back. it is a perfect location for us who mostly walk everywhere, so easy access to town. The property has a lovely view, being on the canal. As much as we love this property, we immediately noticed that the standard of cleaning had deteriorated. the mop hadnt been out of the cupboard in a long time, the floors (bathroom & kitchen) are in dire need of a clean. I found a scrubbing brush & went to work on the kitchen bench & sink. There is usually some cleaning products in the laundry, none to be found this time, though there was a spray & wipe type of spray in the kitchen. The vacuum filter needs replacing, the vacuum was clogged with hair and really isnt fit for purpose. In summary, great property & location, lift the standard of cleaning, and there is no doubt we will be back. thank you

  Pelican Brief met all our expectations, the house was clean and tidy, beds very comfortable and the deck was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view, sunsets and the passing swans and pelicans. Great to have our own dock as we moored our sailboat there which made for easy getaways when sailing.

  My family of 4 stayed at Pelican Brief in January. We loved Pelican Brief due to its fantastic location and of course its canal frontage and private jetty for our boat. It is close to town, boat ramp and direct access to the lakes. House was comfortable with good amenities, wifi and TV, great deck and outlook. One thing to note is that this house is attached to another but privacy was not an issue . FYI We left our trailer locked at the king st boat ramp as there was not quite enough room in the front yard at the house and it was not a problem. Gippsland Lakes Escapes was excellent to deal with, professional and answered all questions I had promptly. I would stay here again without hesitation.

A bit cold for us to make the most of the outside area, and unfortunately the blue green algae spoilt any fishing opportunity. Would be a haven in the warmer weather!

  the unit is always beautifully clean and we always look forward to staying, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We can walk to town, sit on the deck & enjoy the peace & view, cook in with no difficulty. A few points we noticed this time to be reviewed by owner to deliver on expectations -
  
  the fridge was broken
  some blinds were broken
  guttering around the house is blocked
  rain leaking into the main bedroom
  sliding rear wire door to the deck doesn't close properly
  
  we were notified by the agent prior to arrival about the fridge, so we were aware a temporary smaller fridge was being placed in the laundry for our use until the fridge could be fixed. We used the smaller fridge for the first 2 days of our stay. inconvenient, but doable.
  
  the blinds were broken the last time we stayed which was 1 year ago, and still broken. very disappointing. The agent has advised that new blinds have been ordered.
  
  we had a torrential downpour one night which caused the guttering to overflow (it was a waterfall outside the kitchen window) and water started to drip madly from the window in the main bedroom. We thought we'd have to move rooms, but luckily it stopped raining. when we investigated, we could see weeds growing in the guttering.
  
  with the wire door not closing properly, there is always going to be a mosquito issue.
  
  once these issues are fixed, the unit will live up to guests expectation rather than look to the agent for compensatioin.
  
  we'll be back regardless

  Stayed 3 nights, x 3 couples (mature aged!). Pelican Brief was comfortable and easy walk into Main Street. Weather no so great as day 1 was terrible, day 2 go better, and day 3 was enjoyable. We ate at Pier 70 several times. Food and service were first class. Property was clean and well appointed but note that TV pixelated on free to air channels, was not a rubbish bin in 2nd bathroom and was a tight squeeze with shared drive way with our 3 cars and next store the same (not a problem for us, more of an issue for he other guests). The office staff were helpful & courteous. Would recommend this property to others and we would consider booking again next year.

  Perfect weather for a short getaway to this lovely part of Victoria. Only regret is that it was not warm enough to sit on the deck in the late afternoon to enjoy the sun on the water. The house was comfortable and roomy for 4 people. A short walk to the township and the ferry to Raymond Island.

  We recently stayed at Pelican Brief. We were so very happy overall. The weather is cool now but the heating was great. The beds were comfortable and warm. Everything we needed was there.   The house and location were perfect for what we wanted from our break.
  The living area was not set out to make the most of the space but was quickly and easily fixed. The house had decent facilities, but the dishwasher did stop working. This was reported to the agents as soon as we discovered it, but we never saw or heard from either a handyman to fix, or the agents to come and have a look.
  The main bed we used was the hardest bed we have slept on and could have benefitted from a topper.
  We were also very disappointed that having booked through AirBnB, the agents did not submit a review for us.

  We felt very much at home right from our arrival. Lovely welcome pack of food basics including some delicious local produce. Very convenient to tie our boat up at the private jetty and head off on some great Gippsland Lakes adventures. It’s also a lovely location for kayaking and very well protected from imperfect weather. There’s lots of books and games. The views from the indoor and outdoor living areas are stunning and so serene. Wish we could have stayed longer.

  Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return. We took our boat. It was such luxury to step out the door into the boat. The house was clean and well maintained. The BBQ however was in full view and very close to the next door neighbours kitchen window. I would recommend moving it to the other side of the house. The manager provided good costomer service. We stayed in this place to relax. Get away from it all and walk. Great walks. Love every bit of our stay.

  I cannot recommend a stay at the Pelican Brief highly enough, the location is excellent, the furniture and facilities are first class and we will definitely be a returning family!
  The ease of acces to a boat tied up on your own jetty just made those early morning starts so much easier to sneak out and chase some fish. The house is well furnished and everything you could need is supplied. We have stayed in many holiday houses, but this one was by far the best equipped and presented. Paynesville shops are only a brief walk away and Lo the people along the canals seemed very friendly.
  The seams nesting under the jetty just topped it off when the eggs hatched on the third day of our stay showing off four little sygnetseach time we wandered down to the water.
  This is a top facility and very worthy of a five star review!
